Yesterday, across the churning ocean of the Interwebs, we spotted fresh imagery from Ron Howard’s new drama **In The Heart Of The Sea (occasionally simply called Heart Of The Sea, but we’re going with the full title, given that that's what’s on this footage). We naturally took these photos as a portent for a trailer on the horizon. Well, Teaser ho! Take a peek below.

brightcove.createExperiences();In The Heart Of The Sea follows the traumatic real-life struggle endured by the men aboard Nantucket whaling ship the Essex, which was destroyed by an angry sperm whale in 1820.

Stranded in a lifeboat thousands of miles from home, 20 of the surviving crew (their number including the captain and first officer) at first planned to make for an isolated tropical island, but the idea was rejected because of rumours of flesh-eating savages. The resulting delay in their rescue led to them becoming cannibals to survive.

As adapted from Nathaniel Philbrick’s novel by a changing roster of writers that has seen the likes of Ed Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz, Charles Leavitt, Peter Morgan, Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa apply their talents, the film will find one of the survivors (Brendan Gleeson, whose vocalisations adorn the trailer) telling the story to a young Herman Melville (Ben Whishaw), who in turn is inspired to write Oh! The Places You’ll Go! Moby Dick.

Howard has assembled a predictably good cast for this one, with Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Michelle Fairley, Charlotte Riley, Jordi Molla, Tom Holland, Sam Keeley and Cillian Murphy among those who either set sail or must deal with the aftermath. In The Heart Of The Sea puts in to cinematic port on March 13 next year.
