*Update: *A follow-up has dropped, which shows Jessica (still no clear look at Krysten Ritter in the role) going all The Fonz on a jukebox after what looks like a nasty bar brawl. Nasty for everyone else involved, that is. Check the new footage outat the bottom of the page.

Following on from the first official pictures of the heroine and her various associates and enemies, we now have actual, moving footage of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. Well… Her arm, at least. A funny first teaser for the new show from Marvel and Netflix has hit the web. Alarm clocks everywhere… beware!

Ritter stars as Jessica, a woman with super-strength and advanced healing powers who was once a superhero. After a traumatic experience, however, she gave that up and is now making a living as a private eye. Her cases often bring her into contact with those similarly boasting special abilities as well as the usual: cheating spouses, small crimes and missing relatives.

Overseen by Melissa Rosenberg and based on Brian Michael Bendis’ Alias comic book series, the show will also feature Rachael Taylor as Jessica’s closest friend Patricia “Trish” Walker, Mike Colter as friend and sometime love interest Luke “Power Man” Cage (who will be starring in his own series, now shooting), Carrie-Ann Moss as the enigmatic Harper and David Tennant as Zebediah Kilgrave, The Purple Man, a psychic psychopath who has caused so much trouble for Jessica in the past and looks set to continue to do so in the present.

As you can see from the teaser, Jessica doesn’t really do mornings, and she’s not best pleased at being woken up. But she’ll be a little more active for the series, which drops in its entirety on Netflix on November 20. It’s part of the Defenders set of shows, which also includes Daredevil, back next year for a second season.
