Ever since we found out that Spinal Tap/Best In Show's Christopher Guest would be assembling at least some of his regular movie ensemble for a new mockumentary-style telly project, we’ve been feverishly awaiting any footage. And when you add in the presence of Empire favourite and all-round good bloke Chris O’Dowd? The expect-o-meter ticks up a few levels. Now the first footage from the show has arrived online.

In the series, a co-production between BBC2 and HBO, the focus is on 30 year-old Tom Chadwick (Chris O’Dowd), who loses his job and his girlfriend.

But when he inherits a mysterious box from a great aunt he never knew, he decides that instead of wallowing in depression (or spending his time doing something else, as hinted at by his father, played by Michael McKean), he’ll throw his efforts into scaling his family tree and learning a few things about himself in the process.

Guest, who co-created the series with regular collaborator Jim Piddock, has rounded up the likes of Ed Begley Jr., Fred Willard and Bob Balaban for the cast. It’s set to air in May in both the US and on the Beeb, so we don’t have too long to wait.
