If you’ve been itching to take a look at what Oliver Stone has been up to with novel adaptation Savages, this is your lucky week. First out of the gate comes the poster, which you can see below courtesy of the fine folk at JoBlo. The trailer is scheduled to follow in a couple of days.
Savages, drilled from Don Winslow’s bestselling novel by the writer himself and Shane Salerno, follows seemingly laidback Laguna Beach pot growers Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch, in one of the bajillion movies he’s scheduled to appear this year). When their beautiful girlfriend O (Blake Lively) is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel looking to move in on their turf, they take matters into their own, violent hands. Which is especially bloody given that Chon also happens to be a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary.
The film also features Salma Hayek as the Baja Cartel’s boss, Benicio Del Toro as her fearsome enforcer, Lado. And on the boys’ side (more or less) is a dirty DEA officer (John Travolta) who has his own reasons to get involved.
