First Look At Brad Pitt in Cogan's Trade

Brad Pitt and Andrew Dominik have reunited for Cogan's Trade, another crime epic that we're hoping will match their peerless, underseen and tongue-tiring Western The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. It's just wrapped, and ScreenDaily (via The Playlist) have got hold of a first glimpse of Pitt as Jackie Cogan, here seen tooled up as the titular mob enforcer.

Cogan's cold-eyed approach looks to be from the shoot-first-ask-questions-later school. The plots sees him on the hunt for a couple of junkies (Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn) who've ripped off a Mob-run poker game. Dominik's movie is billed as a comedy-thriller, but he's adapted the script from a novel by 'the Balzac of Boston', George V. Higgins. Higgins isn't a crime writer known for cranking out the chuckles so it's safe to expect more thrills than laughs.

Completing the identity parade of villains and lawmen are Ray Liotta's hustler, James Gandolfini as a hitman on the skids, Richard Jenkins as a crooked lawyer and The Sopranos' Vincent Curatola. Bella Heathcote and the great Sam Shephard round out the cast.

There's no release date as yet, but expect **Cogan's Trade **early in 2012.
