We've seen Daredevil, and Luke Cage is on the way, but before that, there's the small matter of Marvel's second Netflix Defenders series Jessica Jones. The ex-superhero private eye makes her screen debut in November, and the first set of official stills has just arrived, showcasing Krysten Ritter (as Jones), Mike Colter (as Cage), David Tennant (Kilgrave), and Carrie-Anne Moss.
The show (principally inspired by Brian Michael Bendis' Alias comics) finds Jones picking up the pieces after a short-lived stint as superhero Jewel. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after using her powers, she decides to leave the life behind. But she doesn’t entirely forsake her past: she opens up a New York detective agency, which tackles cases for both ordinary people and superheroes.
David Tennant is Zebediah Kilgrave, also known as The Purple Man, who will be one of the big threats to Jessica, while Rachael Taylor is on board as Patricia “Trish” Walker, Jones’ closest friend.
And Mike Colter is playing Luke Cage, AKA Power Man: he of the bulletproof skin and the frequent team-ups with Iron Fist. Moss is Harper, a character that doesn't seem to have a basis in the comics, but has been descibed as “a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica... If Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first.”
Jessica Jones will be on Netflix in its entirety from November 20, with Daredevil's second season following in the first half of next year, and Luke Cage - which is shooting now - sometime after that.
