As the Michael-Keaton-for-Oscar bandwagon gains momentum, it’s worth taking a minute to see what all the fuss is about. Alejandro Iñárritu's **Birdman **is a much-hyped showcase for his acting skills, setting him alongside a gifted support cast that boasts Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Naomi Watts. It’s Norton, though, on sidekick duties in this new clip from the film as a fiery actor with plenty to tell his new boss.

Keaton plays Riggan, an actor once famous for playing a Batman-like character who’s since fallen on tough times. His shot of redemption – as he sees it – is a Broadway play charting the triumphs and disasters of a man not entirely dissimilar to Riggan himself. Meta, eh? Well, throw in Norton’s domineering thesp, Zach Galifianakis’s eccentric agent-cum-lawyer and all the usual perils of show business and his plans (and sanity) seem to be in deepest jeopardy. Hence, we assume, the coffee run. Birdman Or (The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance) - or BiRDMAN OR (THE UNEXPECTED ViRTUE OF iGNORANCE) - hits UK cinemas on January 2. Expect the awards buzz to keep building between now and then.{Birdman}
