It’s not too long now until Pixar’s latest, **Monsters University **(and lovely short The Blue Umbrella) hits our cinemas. To remind us of the fact, the company has released what it’s calling the “final” trailer. Check it out…
Monsters University, as the title suggests, has us winging back in time to the days when Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) were fresh-faced college boys beasts and part of the prestigious faculty’s Scare Programme. There, taught by Professor Knight (Alfred Molina) and overseen by the intimidating Dean Hardscrabble (Helen Mirren), they strive to either overcome their deficiencies (Mike) or live up to their family credentials (Sulley).
When something goes badly wrong, our heroes are ejected from the class and threatened with expulsion. To stay in school, they’ll have to compete in – and win – the Scare Games. Which is no easy feat when they can’t stand each other but are forced together with a team considered losers.
The cast also features the voice powers of Steve Buscemi, Nathan Fillion, Aubrey Plaza, Dave Foley, Charlie Day, Frank Oz, Sean Hayes, Bonnie Hunt, Joel Murray, Bobby Moynihan and, of course, John Ratzenberger, without whom no Pixar release is complete. With plenty of both overt and crafty nods to Monsters, Inc., this one promises to be a pleasantly fun prequel. It’ll ooze on to our screens on July 12.
