Years and years after we first started talking about it, following a punishing development and shoot, George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road is a mere two weeks away from release. We've had teasers, promos and 'legacy' reminders, and now here's the finally final trailer before Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron really start their engines.
We've seen much of that before, of course, but the extended scene at the start is new, and there are some interesting callbacks to Mad Maxs past. That guzzeline truck at the start looks awfully familiar ("If it's all the same to you, I'll drive that tanker") and note also the character with the little music box. It isn't Emil Minty, but could that possibly be a grown-up Feral Kid?
The new Max promises a return to the stark, desert wasteland where society has long since broken down and lawlessness rules. Max (Hardy), following the deaths of his wife and child, is still seeking peace by scrapping with desert freakoids. And shaven-headed action woman Imperator Furiosa (Theron) is trying to survive a gruelling trip across the desert to reach her homeland. Along the way, we’ll be treated to what Miller has described as "one long chase scene" replete with utter madness.
Zoe Kravitz, Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Megan Gale, Hugh Keays-Byrne (the Toecutter from the original Mad Max) and Josh Helman all feature in the insanity, which plows into UK cinemas on May 14.
