The final international one-sheet for Iron Man 2 – the film shaping up to be summer’s biggest blockbuster – has arrived, and it’s even more trés cool than Green Day’s drummer.
Echoing the final poster for the first Iron Man, it’s a collection of headshots of the film’s main characters with a couple of twists. Note the grey skies swirling ominously behind Ol’ Shellhead and his new copper-plated chum, War Machine. Note the presence of Mickey Rourke’s fiendish baddie, Whiplash, front and centre, walking away – as tough guys are wont to do – from a massive explosion. Are things about to get hairy for Tony Stark? Of course they are. It’s a sequel. And we expect it to be bigger, darker, faster, stronger etc. etc.
Sadly, though, there’s no love or space for Sam Rockwell – who plays Justin Hammer, a flamboyant rival of Stark’s who funds Whiplash’s nefarious activities – or Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. But we’ll just have to hold a place for them in our hearts. And the credit block.
Iron Man 2 is released on April 30.
