With the release date for Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes now just under a month away, 20th Century Fox has put what is being called the final trailer for the movie online. Take a look at Caesar and co. in action…
Combining some material we’ve seen before with all-new footage, this latest trailer for Matt Reeves’ film shows off the effects that Weta and others have been polishing up over the last few months to impressive effect.
It’s not a good time for humans or, in this promo, bears, as we’re introduced to our world a decade after the events seen in Rise, when humanity has been ravaged by a devastating virus unleashed upon the population. With the simian soldiers slowly establishing their own society, humanity tries to forge a fragile peace, but things don’t go to plan.
Andy Serkis returns in performance capture style as chimp commander Caesar, trying to navigate the tricky balance of his own family and followers’ needs with his conflicting feelings towards humans. While he finds some empathy on the human side from Jason Clarke’s scientist Malcolm, there are other forces at play, including Gary Oldman’s bitter Dreyfus.
Serkis is joined by Toby Kebbell as Caesar's fellow ape, Koba, as well as a human cast that boasts Keri Russell and Judy Greer. With Kodi Smit-McPhee also in the cast, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is out on July 17 in the UK, following a July 11 debut in the US.
