After picking up the prize for Best Director at last night's Sony Ericsson Empire Awards, David Yates granted us a small chat about the rumours that he'll be the man to direct Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, bringing one of the biggest, if not the biggest, franchises in movie history to a close.

"We're talking about it everyday," said the director, who helmed Order of the Phoenix and is currently working on Half-Blood Prince. "But I can't really say right now. I'm tempted, certainly". You can watch the full video interview here (it's bottom-left), as well as others with Paul Greengrass, Matt Damon, James McAvoy and more from the night.

It's looking increasingly likely that Yates will be the man to take Harry Potter to the finish line, although there's still no official confirmation from anyone on the production. The studio and fans, as partly evidenced by his win last night, were extremely pleased with his work on Potter 5 and confidence seems to be very high for the sixth movie. Deathly Hallows will undoubtedly be the most difficult book to adapt, purely because of the amount of plot strands to tie up, and it would be a real challenge for any director. But, with the opportunity that the story gives to makes something cinematically incredible, we can't imagine Yates not wanting to give it a go.

Would you like to see him end the series?
