Have you heard of Winter's Bone yet? If you haven't, trust us when we say that you definitely will by next year's Academy Awards. It's already won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance too, so we're very excited to share with you an exclusive poster from the film.
This Oscar buzz is thanks in no small part to amazing performance by newcomer lead Jennifer Lawrence (here below in the beanie hat) who also appears in this month's issue.
She plays Ree Dolly, a 17-year-old from the Ozark mountains, right slap bang in the middle of America, dirt poor and detached from much of modern America.
Bringing up two younger siblings while looking after her mentally ill mother, she's forced to leave her home to discover the truth about her missing father, who's put up their family home as a bail bond.
It's a bleak yet heartwarming noir set in a world that many have never heard of, and yet just next door at the same time. Look forward to an interview with both Ms Lawrence and the film's director, Debra Granik, here later this month.
Winter's Bone is out on September 17.
