In 2012, **Sinister **arrived. In 2015, **Sinister II **arrives, and to celebrate that fact, here are two exclusive TV spots to get you excited about the return to the supernatural horror phenomenon.
James Ransone is returning from the first Sinister in the role of the sheriff’s deputy who tried to help Hawke with the terror-infused home movies he found in his family’s new home. This time around, he’ll be coming to the aid of Shannyn Sossamon’s single mum, who moves into a rural house with her nine-year-old twins only to discover that the place is loaded with creepy supernatural phenomena. And this time, there’s a spooky cornfield involved to give it that real Children Of The Corn feel.
Sinister II, of course, comes from the Blumhouse stable: home of Insidious, The Purge, Paranormal Activity and so on. Derrickson remains on board as producer and co-writer (with C. Robert Cargill) for the sequel, but has delegated the directing reins to Ciaran Foy (Citadel).
"The mythology in the second film is explored more in terms of the mechanics of how Bughuul's curse works," Foy explained to Empire recently. "You find out a little bit more about him and how he operates: the mythology in terms of the kill films and the meaning behind them as sacrificial offerings is expanded upon. There’s a new character called Stomberg, who imparts some new information..."
There's no Ethan Hawke this time, with Sossamon, James Ransone and Tate Ellington leading the adult cast, and Dartanian Sloan, Caden M. Fritz, Jaden Klein and a spooky-looking Lucas Jade Zumann among the kids. Sinister II is out in the UK on August 21,
