The latest work by French writer/director Maïwenn, **Polisse **is a hard-hitting social drama that made waves at Cannes last year and is now heading our way. Here's a look at the film's new trailer to give an idea of what to expect.

Pitched somewhere between The Class and The Wire, Polisse casts a forensic eye over the work of France's Child Protection Unit (CPU, definitely not to be confused with CTU), taking in prostitution, domestic abuse and immigration along the way.
It's tough stuff, doing for the mean streets of northern Paris what La Haine did for the city's western suburbs, and showing the darker underbelly of French society. It's all documented by Melissa (Maïwenn), a photographer commissioned by the powers-that-be to keep watch over the team.
If this doesn't seem to be deterring them from driving around like maniacs and pulling guns every five minutes, we're saying that's no bad thing.** Polisse **gets its UK theatrical release on June 15.
