Set ten years later, Monsters: Dark Continent is a very different beast to its predecessor. While Monsters was a love story and road movie set against a shattered Latin American backdrop - okay, with some pretty spectacular aliens dropping in to have their say - this one is an out-and-out war movie. The film has a new, and presumably final, trailer to share a little more of what's involved.
With Gareth Edwards taking an executive producer credit and a back seat, it's Misfits man Tom Green who called the shots on this one. And there's a lot of them: the monsters this time are at the centre of a combat-strewn maelstrom in which an unnamed insurgency is leaving a squad of US soldiers trapped between a rock and a hard, tentacly place. The bullets start flying and the extra-terrestrials are suddenly a less benign presence than we remember. Shouting things like "get some!" as they hit back against the guerillas and lay waste to large parts of the Infected Zone are Johnny Harris, Sam Keeley, Joe Dempsie, Jesse Nagy and Nicholas Pinnock.
How many will make it out again? Find out when Monsters: Dark Continent lands in UK cinemas on May 1, with a US release scheduled for April 17.
