Until now **Intruders **has been tiptoeing under the radar, but Juan Carlos Fresnadillo's new horror now has a suitably jittery teaser trailer to give a taste of what to expect. It's a welcome return from the Spanish director who's been quieter than a church mouse since 28 Weeks Later (albeit a church mouse adept at scaring the bejesus out of us).
Like [Rec]-ers Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, and The Orphanage's Juan Antonio Bayona, Fresnadillo is at the heart of a new wave of gifted Spanish horror directors. He's a Spaniard who knows his way around the Big Smoke, too: prior to finding himself lodged in **Bioshock ** development hell, he shot **Intruders **in London last summer, a second Blighty-based horror in a succession. It's official: London is 50% scarier.
Fresnadillo's psychological horror revolves around an 11 year-old girl (Never Let Me Go's Ella Purnell) dealing with the childhood demons reappear to spook the heck out of her and her family. Luckily dad is Clive Owen and we reckon he'd be good to have around in a demonic scenario.
Co-starring with Owen are Kerry Fox, Carice van Houten and Daniel Brühl. **Intruders **is written by Nicolás Casariego and Jaime Marques.
