Somewhere in the admittedly fairly broad space between F. W. Murnau's **Nosferatu **and J. Tribbiani's Friends lies What We Do In The Shadows, a new comedy-horror from Kiwi writer/directors Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. The Kiwis are the first to explore the relationship between vampiric souls and the internet, unless there was a bit we missed in Count Orlok's long and pestilential journey across medieval Europe where he gets wi-fi installed. The movie's four flat-sharing vamps, Wellington's most ancient and untidy bloodsuckers, are 862-year-old Vladislav (Clement), 379-year-old Viago (Waititi) and spring chicken Deacon (Jonathan Brugh), 183. Then there's 8000-year-old basement-dweller Petyr (Ben Fransham), who has probably seen better days. About three million of them.
Helping this posse of the undead get down with the kids is Stu (Stu Rutherford), friends with the newly vampified Nick (Cori Gonzalez-Macuer), who's helpfulness and IT support quickly makes him a firm favourite with the boys. What We Do In The Shadows will be doing its riotously funny thing in your local cinehouse from November 21.
