British sci-fi The Machine has scored a couple of BIFA nominations, including Most Promising Newcomer for it star Caity Lotz, and the Raindance Award for indie filmmaking. It now has a poster, too, to help show off its techy wares. Click on the image for a closer look. Directed by Welshman Caradog James, The Machine is set in a Cold War-torn near-future UK. China are the main adversaries and the Ministry of Defence has been working on a robotic soldier to arm the nation against its superior numbers. The creation, a female tech warrior (Lotz) has speed, strength and a morality-free attitude to killing. But then a bug crops up in programming and the prototype ends up destroying the lab and everyone in its path.

There’s one hope: lead scientist, Vince McCarthy (Stephens) hasn’t given up hope on his lethal lady, and he continues to work on her in secret. Could her too-close-to-human nature be what prompts the “romantic” aspect of the movie’s pitch?

A.I. meets Universal Soldier, perhaps? Find out when The Machine gets its theatrical release in March.
