We admit it: Joss Whedon's Dollhouse is slow to get going. But by the end of season one it turned into something really good - and when you get the DVD box set and watch unaired bonus episode Epitaph One, you're going to realise just how far this series can go, and how good it can get.
The basic premise of the show is that human personalities can be removed, stored and replaced at will, allowing the empty vessels to be reprogrammed as whatever is necessary and hired out to the highest bidder. They can be spys, crooks, lovers or whores - if you have the money. But by Epitaph One, it's all gone wrong, and Eliza Dushku's Echo (our heroine, more or less) is leading the other dolls to safety, but pauses to talk to Olivia Williams' Adelle DeWitt en route. We won't say much more than that; watch this taster, and then you're going to have to find the full episode.
The Dollhouse DVD is out next Monday, and if by some chance you remain unconvinced of Joss Whedon's godlike brilliance, watch this and this{
