Not to be confused with the bewhiskered river-dwelling critter, **Catfish is a fly-on-the-wall documentary exploring the smoke-and-mirrors world of social networking. With a new poster riffing on The Social Network, **it's billed as 'a reality thriller' - a glimpse at the darker side of Facebook.

Directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman basically point their camera at Ariel's brother Nev as he begins an online relationship with a 19 year-old Midwesterner called Megan. A pretty songwriter living on an idyllic farm in Michigan, she's everything Nev is looking for in a girl but is everything quite what it seems? We're guessing not, especially with the film's edgy trailerin mind.

Whether the story is real or, as Morgan Spurlock has suggested, too good to be true, it's a fittingly zeigeisty attempt to tackle the joys and pitfalls of Facebook. Make up your own mind when **Catfish **is released on December 17.
