Were you worried that X-Men: Days Of Future Past would be less groovy than its predecessor, X-Men: First Class, after swapping the swingin' '60s for the '70s? Worry no more! This exclusive new behind-the-scenes image from the new issue of** Empire** (out Tuesday, December 31) proves that the principal cast, and director Bryan Singer, are styling as hard as ever in their Starsky & Hutch-style threads.

This film, as you must know by now, sees a story split between a post-apocalyptic future where mutants are hunted and killed by robots called Sentinels, and a 1970s past where they might just be able to turn the tide. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) team up to send Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) consciousness back in time to his younger self to unite their younger selves (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, respectively) and change the course of history. Easy!

The film also stars, oh, everyone who's anyone. Or to be specific, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Evan Peters, Ellen Page, Lucas Till and Daniel Cudmore. X-Men: Days Of Future Past hits UK cinemas on May 22, 2014, with a sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse following in 2016.
