Us Brits like nothing more than a good old crime caper - except, perhaps, for a nice plate of jellied eels and a pint of Spitfire – so thank the lord blimey up above for The Bank Job.
Not only does it star, Jason Statham, our 55th Sexiest Movie Star… ever, but it’s also written by Porridge scribes Dick Clement and Ian Le Frenais, it’s got a star-studded line-up of some of Blighty’s recognisable faces and tells the true-life story of an unsolved big-money robbery.
Could this be the most British film ever made? Chuck in a pearly king and we’ll bet a fiver on it.
The Bank Job is set in 1971, when thieves tunnelled into the vault of a bank in London's Baker Street and looted safe deposit boxes of cash and jewellery worth over three million pounds. Not one penny was ever recovered and nobody was ever arrested and the story disappeared from headline following a governmental notice gagging the press.
The Bank Job is out at the end of February and to get you in the mood for The Stath-led blag, we’ve got five exclusive pics for your perusal. Go on, take your time. It’s a one-way mirror, so you’re perfectly safe.
