It’s been 50 years since Delmar Davis put Glenn Ford and Van Heflin through their paces during the making of the classic Western 3:10** To **Yuma. Half a century later and the genre – and in this case the story itself – has been yanked back into town and is set to ride across our screens once again. James Mangold (Walk The Line) is the man responsible for Yuma’s 21st Century resurgence, and with a cast led by the towering likes of Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, this could prove to be one of the real highlights of the year.

Crowe stars as captured outlaw Ben Wade, a man who’s set to stand trial for the heinous list of crimes he’s committed throughout his tenure as leader of one of the most murderous gangs in the South. Down-and-out Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale) is entrusted with ensuring Wade makes the train to Yuma where he’ll eventually face the judge. Unsurprisingly, their journey is far from smooth. Gretchen Mol, Ben Foster and the venerable Peter Fonda also make appearances in the film, but for now, click here to see the leading, rather beardy pair go head -to-head with horses, guns, dust and different shaped hats!
