Casting has been going on for a while, but writer/producer-turned-director is now shooting his technological psycho-thriller** Ex Machina**, which features Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander.

The story follows Caleb (Gleeson), a 24-year-old coder at the world’s largest Internet company, who wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to reclusive CEO Nathan (Isaac). But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he learns that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world’s first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl (Vikander).

Garland describes the film as an intense psychological thriller, played out in a love triangle, explores big ideas about the nature of consciousness, emotion, sexuality, truth and lies. It all sounds like an episode of Black Mirror or The Outer Limits put up on the big screen, which is fine by us.

After writing the likes of** 28 Days Later**, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go and Dredd, Garland is now cranking the cameras at Pinewood and on location in Norway. There’s no set release date just yet. It also seems to be the week for stories of men falling for attractive techno-ladies
