The trailers and posters have come and gone and soon it will be time for Ender’s Game to stand for inspection in cinemas. As part of the final wave of marketing before the sci-fi movie arrives, a clip has emerged online. Take a look below.
This brief footage snippet finds Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) reporting to Harrison Ford's Colonel Hyrum Graff for what he thinks will be a dressing-down for his disrespectful attitude towards a commanding officer.
Instead, Graff tells Wiggin that he is ready to take command himself, handing the boy charge of the Dragon Army, a name that hasn’t been used at the Battle School for years.
It’s all part of a plot set in a future where our planet has come under attack from an insectoid race known as the Formics (or, colloquially, "Buggers.”) Humanity has been preparing for the next wave of invasion forces by gathering up the world’s most promising children and putting them through a challenging training regime to see which of them might become great commanders of the future. Ender is one of the kids who show real aptitude, proving to be a tactical genius. But at what personal cost?
With Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Moises Arias, Nonso Anozie and Abigail Breslin in the cast, Ender’s Game is out here on October 25.
