Disney pokes fun at self; makes funny

Previous to today, we'd held very little expectation for Enchanted. The story of a Disney princess entering our 3D, fleshy world sounded just fine, but very much, y'know, for kids. Now, however, having watched this trailer we are completely, what's the word? Enchanted.

Starting with a bit of traditional Disney animation, which actually really made us miss the form, the action jumps straight to Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) emerging from a sewer in New York and continuing to believe she's in her own world where people sing their emotions and animals exist to help with household chores and to listen to romantic problems with simpering princes.

It's got some pretty corny elements, but we love the fact that the characters transported from 'toon land try to sing at each other and are repeatedly foiled; that James Marsden appears to be completely brilliant in it; that Amy Adams has nailed the princess thing and that there are some great nods to past Disney classics (spot the Beauty and the Beast shot?). We will be securing a small relative as cover and going to see this.

UPDATE: Apparently someone has taken the trailer down. We don't know who, but we suspect this may go all the way back to the president. So, either just imagine a Disney cartoon with a lot of knowing irony or get outside and be with the 3-dimensional people.
