Empire Podcast #182: Abi Morgan, Sarah Gavron And Robert Zemeckis

Robert Zemeckis

On the Empire Podcast this week, two true-life tales hit home. First it was the turn of Abi Morgan and Sarah Gavron, a writer/director pairing on their second collaboration, to pop in to chat about Suffragette, just before stepping out onto the BFI London Film Festival red carpet to do the same again, only without all the comfy podbooth chairs and cups of steaming podtea.

Then the inestimable Robert Zemeckis came by to talk about his latest blend of polished storytelling and technical virtuosity, The Walk. That's another true-life story in which inspiring figures defy the law to leave a lasting monument to the human spirit.

But because this is the Empire Podcast and not, say, Serial, there was also a debate about whether it would be more terrifying to face an army of duck-sized Tom Hardys or one Tom Hardy-sized ducks to leaven the mix. It's safe to say that nobody was freed from prison as a result of this.
