As it enters its 62nd year, the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) is gearing up for a hot summer of highly-anticipated movieage.
Running from June 18-29 June, the flick fest will host 15 world premieres including the John Maybury’s Dylan Thomas-themed The Edge Of Love for the Opening Night Gala and the world premiere of Brit comedy Faintheart lined up as the Closing Night Gala.
Attended by patrons Sir Sean Connery and Tilda Swinton, the Festival will showcase 142 movies from around the world. The highlights include Pixar’s Wall-E, Shane Meadows latest Somers Town, Brad Anderson’s Transsiberian and Jonathan Levine’s NY drama The Wackness.
British Galas competing for the UK Film Council-sponsored Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature include Oliver Blackburn’s sexy horror (and Empire office favourite) Donkey Punch among a bunch of other UK-based hopefuls.
