Would you attend a camp run by the man who directed I Know What You Did Last Summer? Wouldn’t you be afraid of being chased around the place by a man with a hook? Happily, Ed Westwick, Dominic Sherwood, Phoebe Tonkin and Jeremy Sumpter don’t seem to be too worried, as they’re all aboard for Jim Gillespie’s Take Down.
Gillespie is working from a script by Alexander Ignon and Take Down is set on a remote island, the location for an exclusive boot camp where billionaires can send their idle, spoilt spawn to learn basic survival skills, in the hope that this will somehow inspire them to find some meaning in the rest of their lives and stop emptying their bank accounts with wild exploits and cheap thrills.
But the situation becomes a little more real than any of them bargained for when sophisticated kidnappers arrive to hold them for a massive ransom. As their parents fret, our loaded layabouts must put aside their usual douchey attitudes and team up to fight the villains with the little they’ve learned on the course so far.
Westwick was last seen in the most recent version of Romeo & Juliet and has A Conspiracy On Jekyll Island chugging through post-production. Sherwood, meanwhile, is probably trying to forget he appeared in supernatural damp squib Vampire Academy. Tonkin knows a bit more about successful bloodsuckers with her work on TV’s Vampire Diaries and its spin-off, The Originals, and will also be seen in indie pic The Ever After. Sumpter is battling the elements in this summer’s Into The Storm, which lands on August 22.
