Despite plenty of chatter when it was first announced that **Juno ****/ Young Adult **scribe Diablo Cody would be picking up the megaphone to direct one of her screenplays, we’ve heard little about the film – once called Lamb Of God – following a few casting announcements. It has been finished for a while and now seems set to hit US cinemas under the name Paradise. Check out the trailer.

Paradise follows a young, devoutly Christian woman named Lamb (Julianne Hough) who finds her faith severely tested after a plane crash leaves her with serious burns. Leaving her shocked mother (Holly Hunter) and father (Nick Offerman) behind, she journeys to Las Vegas to discover what the sinful world has to offer… But on her own terms.

Soon, she’s running around with Russell Brand’s bartender and Octavia Spencer’s card dealer and discovering all that she can get up to, including getting a (tiny) tattoo and drinking for the first time.

This trailer pitches the film as a sweet look at life and a challenge to pre-conceptions, spiced with just a little of the Diablo Cody spirit we know from her film scripts and TV series United States Of Tara. Paradise is, somewhat oddly, set to debut on a US satellite network before hitting screens across the pond on October 18. There's no word on a UK release yet, but with that cast, we’re hoping it might make it over here, even if it heads straight to VOD and discs.
