Like a ginormous pile of dwarvish gold but without the psychotic dragon on top, the August issue of **Empire **is heading your way and it has a full cargo of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug treasure within.

The cover focuses on the new Elvish additions to** The Desolation Of Smaug** with Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly), Thranduil (Lee Pace) and our old friend Legolas (Orlando Bloom). If the movie's first trailer whet our appetites, we've got more insights into the trilogy's key second instalment - all accrued on set in New Zealand - than you can shake a wizard's staff at.

Subscribers will get a natty subs cover that showcases the elves in minimalist, collector's edition elegance.

It's not just dwarves, dragons and derring-do inside, mind. If you were to imagine all your favourite funny people shepherded into a helium-filled room and let loose, you'd have something akin to this month's comedy special. It'll thrill fans of Anchorman 2, The World's End, Alan Partridge and a certain French partisan called Déjà Vu. Trust us, you haven't read anything like this before. Trust us, you haven't read anything like this before.

There's plenty, too, on The Lone Ranger, Ryan Gosling's Only God Forgives and Cannes-acclaimed Coens folkster tale Inside Llewyn Davis.

And that's not all! There's lots, lots more in the August issue of Empire, which hits shops, iPad edition and US iPad edition on Thursday June 27. As Oleta Adams almost sang: "You can get it by barrel ride, you can get it by rabbit sled, you can it by on an eagle's back... Just go get it."
