Demi’s An Independent Woman

Ever since her painful performance in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Demi Moore has been keeping a relatively low profile. And, following a couple of ensemble and low-key supporting roles in the likes of Bobby and Mr. Brooks, her self-enforced hiatus from big-budget bilge is set to continue with turns in two upcoming independents.

The first is a family drama called Happy Tears, in which Moore will star alongside indie queen Parker Posey. Directed by Teeth’s Mitchell Lichtenstein, it’s about a self-aggrandising woman, played by Posey, who returns to her Wisconsin home and must deal with her bitter sister (Moore) and her dementia-suffering father.

Before you think the former G.I. Jane is getting all worthy and dramatic, however, her next project is a martial arts tale which will co-star Josh Hartnett and Woody Harrelson.

Called Bunraku, it follows a man (Hartnett) on a revenge quest who encounters the enslaved concubine of a warlord. Moore plays the concubine, Harrelson plays a bartender – and the world order is restored once again.
