Various dodgy copies have been floating around the interwebs for the last few days, but here's an official, sanctioned, clean copy of The Dark Knight Rises' teaser trailer, in all its Batman-y goodness.
And what does it give away? Well, not a vast amount. After a few bits of old footage and a reminder of Liam Neeson's advice to the would-be caped avenger way back in Batman Begins, we get just a few tidbits of new stuff. We have reason to believe that Gary Oldman's Commissioner Gordon suffers some sort of debilitation, whether due to illness or injury (surely he's too busy fighting crime to get sick?), and has a little chat with Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale). "We were in this together, and then you were gone. And now this evil rises. The Batman has to come back."[
"What if he doesn't exist anymore?" asks Wayne.
"He must. He must," mutters Gordon.[
Oooh, shivers. There's a glimpse of Bane's masked face, and a more-than-a-little Inception-y falling-buildings scene, outlining the Bat symbol (think publicity campaign rather than actual footage), and that's your lot. Well you weren't expecting Nolan to give away much this far out, were you?
**The Dark Knight **Rises also stars Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and is due for release on July 20, 2012. A year and two days: bring it on!
