The film adaptation of The Woman In Black is rolling ever quicker towards release, like a big scary ghost suddenly whooshing out at you the moment you think you're safe. With Jane "Kick Ass" Goldman on scripting duties and James "Eden Lake" Watkins directing, it's already set to be cool and scary - and now Daniel Radcliffe has signed on to star.
Yes, him out of **Harry Potter **will play Arthur Kipps, the young lawyer who has to travel to the remote house of a deceased client in Crythin Gifford and discovers that he may not be alone in the house. According to the production company, "As he works alone in an old and isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover its tragic secrets, and his unease grows when he discovers that the local village is held hostage by the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance." OOOooooOOOOooooOOooooo etc.
The stage version of Susan Hill's original novel has been terrifying London theatregoers for ages, so the decision by Hammer to take it to the screen seems entirely sensible. And Radcliffe, say what you like for him, has some experience of being scared by supernatural forces.
Shooting is due to begin in the autumn, presumably with a quick break for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 promotion, and before Radcliffe heads off to star in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying on Broadway, for which he's been taking singing and dance lessons for a couple of years now.
