Penelope Cruz has joined the voice cast of Jerry Bruckheimer’s G-Force, the live action/CG hybrid that, confusingly, makes us think of Battle Of The Planets every time we hear its name.

Anyway, Cruz has signed on as the voice of Juarez, a guinea pig that forms part of a group of super-intelligent talking animals who work for a government agency trying to stop an evil billionaire taking over the world.

And if that barmy premise hasn’t already ensnared you, then perhaps the movie’s cast will – Cruz joins Nicolas Cage, 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan and Steve Buscemi on vocal duties, while Will Arnett and Bill Nighy head the human cast, suggesting that this might be a cut above your standard kids’ romp.

Hoyt Yeatman, an Oscar-winning special effects guru, is making his directorial debut on the picture.
