If you pick up the new issue of Empire, you’ll see that one of the films we’re eagerly anticipating is Jennifer Kent’s ambitious, scary horror pic The Babadook. The new trailer for the film has crept online to make you worry about noises in the night.

The story finds Amelia (Essie Davis) still mourning the violent death of her husband six years earlier. Her uncontrollable six year-old, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), is another emotional weight she’s struggling with. To make things worse, the poor tyke is scared of a terrifying monster and is barely sleeping.

That’s when The Babadook, a weird storybook, lands on their doorstep, boasting a tale about the exact monster in her son’s subconscious. It turns out that he may not be imagining it after all... Remember kids: the things you’re terrified about are all real!

With Tim Purcell, Daniel Henshall, Benjamin Winspear and Craig Behenna also among the cast, **The Babadook **will strike our cinemas on October 24. The new **Empire is at all good and haunted newsagents and available on both the iPad and Android digital formats.
