Christensen Deciphers The Genesis Code

Erstwhile Anakin Hayden Christensen has been absent from our screens for quite some time now, but he's just signed on to star in thriller The Genesis Code, based on the novel of the same name, for director David R. Ellis.

Not to be confused with the Genesis device or the Book of Genesis, this Genesis Code tells the story of Joe Lassiter, an ex-FBI investigator who starts to investigate the murder of his sister and her young son, and discovers several other connected deaths. The signs point to the involvement of a religious cult called The Shadow of the Cross - but why? How? Etc. Think twists, turns, and an ending you're going to figure out about half an hour before Lassiter, if the book's anything to go by. They're casting rather younger than the character is written with Christensen, but apart from that he's not a terrible fit for your standard hero role.

The novel's credited to John Case (apparently a nom-de-plume for two other writers) and is a decent airport-style thriller; think The Da Vinci Code with a soupcon of Bourne thrown in. We're hoping that Ellis (who improved on Snakes on a Plane with last year's The Final Destination, but who's still not quite back in our good books yet) and his screenwriter Kevin Bernhardt can improve on the book's rather hurried last act, but that they keep the bit with the goldfish, which we rather liked.
