Fire and ice might not seem to be natural companions (what with the whole melting thing), but The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Disney’s new animated feature Frozen certainly had sparks at the top of the US Box Office this Thanksgiving Weekend, according to studio estimates. The** Hunger Games** sequel continued to show real power, breaking a record for biggest Thanksgiving weekend earnings, taking in $74.5 million Friday to Sunday and an impressive $110.2 million across the five days since the Thursday holiday in the States.

Frozen had its own records to snap, offering the best Thanksgiving opening ever, grabbing $93 million ($66 million of that in three days), ahead of the previous holder,** Toy Story 2**. The Pixar film took in $80 million back in 1999. Third place was Thor: The Dark World, which made $15.4 million. Fourth place went to The Best Man Holiday with $8.4 million, while Jason Statham’s latest, Homefront, mustered $6.9 million on the weekend and $9.7 million total since release.

Delivery Man fell to sixth place, earning $4.8 million, The Book Thief expanded its cinema count and entered the top 10 at seventh with $4.8 million, and Black Nativity arrived in seventh to a disappointing $3.8 million. Ninth place went to Philomena, which made $3.7 million, while** 12 Years A Slave** slipped one place to tenth with $3 million. The big flop story of this weekend, however, was the new version of Oldboy, which opened in limited release (583 screens) and earned a disappointing $1.2 million total across the five days.
