With that November 22, 2013 release date a little over a year away, Francis Lawrence has kicked off shooting on Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.

Lionsgate has announced that the film will primarily shoot in Atlanta, before heading to location work (well, there are a lot of scenes set on a beach, after all) in Hawaii, predicted to wrap in late December.

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Jeffrey Wright, Amanda Plummer, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland are all among the cast who will be hard at work bringing Suzanne Collins’ second novel to life.

The story finds Katniss and Peeta returned home safely after winning the 74th Hunger Games and almost immediately herded out on the Victor’s Tour of the districts. Sensing that the rebellion is growing, President Snow prepares a surprise for the 75th Games – a twist that will see our heroes back in the arena with winners from previous years.

To mark the start of production, the studio is opening up a worldwide sweepstakes competition where you can submit questions to the cast and crew and two winners will get the chance to battle to the death visit the set. Take a look at the video below for details and find more info at the sweepstakes' site.
