The “news” on any casting other than Will Smith’s in I Am Legend has become a bit of a hit-and-miss affair. Staying true to the difficult development life of the film to this point, the rumours have been flying thick and fast as to who will be filling the various supporting parts around Smith’s Robert Neville.
Johnny Depp was being strongly tipped as signing on to play Smith’s biggest problem, the leader of the infected vamp-alikes that plague the nights of Neville in his life as the last unaffected human on Earth. But Depp was never attached – and with his current schedule full, it’s unlikely he’d have the time.
There’s also debate on who is Anna, the unexpected fellow survivor that Neville discovers, with BlackFilm.com suggesting Lower City’s Alice Braga and IESB.net backing Bad Boys 2’s Gabrielle Union.
But the casting of Neville’s devoted wife Ginny appears to be a little more solid, with Anacondas’ Salli Richardson apparently grabbing the role.
Constantine director Francis Lawrence is currently shooting Legend, which should hit late next year or early in 2008.
