With the new version of **Carrie **White – played by Chloe Moretz – having something of a launch party at the New York Comic-Con this weekend, the publicity machine has kicked up a gear. We got the poster yesterday and now comes the teaser trailer courtesy of Yahoo, which you can see above.
It’s very much a tease, gliding through the small town so we can see the devastation that has been wrought by one fateful prom night prank.
Voice-overs talk about what led to it – a conspiracy, perhaps, or something supernatual? – and then there’s mention of a certain young lady. “She’s not a monster. She’s just a… girl.” Cue a quick zoom into Moretz as the blood-covered Carrie standing among the rubble of her telekinetic handy work.
So even though we don’t get much of a sense of the rest of the movie – Julianne Moore’s Margaret will have to make do with just a picture for now – this is clearly meant as a statement of intent from director Kimberly Peirce.
We’ll keep an eye on this one, as the main trailer will be key. Carrie arrives in cinemas on April 5 next year.
