We got our first look at footage from the new Will Ferrell / Zach Galifianakis comedy The Campaign last week, with the release of promotional videos for the two candidates featured in the film. Now there’s a taste of how the whole package will work as the trailer has arrived below
brightcove.createExperiences();The Campaign, directed by Jay Roach, charts what happens when smug, buffoonish incumbent North Carolina congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell) goofs at a political event and his opponents smell blood in the water. Though Brady has run unopposed for years, he now finds himself up against an outsider, the weird Marty Huggins (Galifianakis). Though Brady initially laughs off the challenge, he soon realises that, while Huggins might be a freaky, jumper-wearing nightmare, he’s also got some appeal to an electorate tired of Brady’s antics.
With a feeling a little like Talladega Nights, the movie looks like it could be fun, even if it does represent Ferrell and Galifianakis essentially channelling characters they’ve done before. But with the likes of Jason Sudeikis, Brian Cox, Dan Aykroyd and John Lithgow aboard, we’ve got solid hopes for this one. It’ll be out on September 28.
