DreamWorks’ neat-sounding comedy, Cal Of The Wild, has bagged two writers.
Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have been brought on board to write the film, about a fraudulent host of a Survivor-style TV show, who is ditched in the jungle along with his glamorous assistant, and forced to fend for himself for real.
Sounds like it has plenty of potential and could make a good star vehicle for an A-list comedy star. Certainly Goldstein and Daley have good records with comedies – they’ve sold two spec scripts thus far, Burt Wonderstone and The $40,000 Man, and have just finished rewrites on the Scott Rudin-produced board game comedy, Hours Of Fun.
Of course, we haven’t actually seen anything they’ve done so far, but we’re willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, based on their popularity with Hollywood types. After all, movie studios wouldn’t employ bad writers now, would they?
Cal Of The Wild – ace title, by the way – has yet to find a director. We’ll keep you posted.
