Given that he tends to do only one major film a year, Empire had assumed that Adam Sandler had already filled his 2008 slate with next summer’s wacky comedy, You Don’t Mess With The Zohan.
However, clearly he’s got some room on his schedule, for today he signed on to star in family comedy Bedtime Stories, which will be Walt Disney Pictures’ big late autumn release next year. Adam Shankman will direct.
Sandler will play a real estate developer who tells his niece and nephews bedtime stories. All well and good… until the bedtime stories begin to come to life. Expect effects galore, in a film that sounds like someone at Disney went, ‘Hey, that Night At The Museum picture did pretty well. Why don’t we do one a little bit like it?’ Let’s hope it’s funnier than the Ben Stiller flick.
Sandler has shown his softer side before, in rom-coms like 50 First Dates, but this is his first family film. Although, if we know Sandler, he’ll find some way to work either a fart gag, some painful slapstick, or Rob Schneider in there somehow. Hell, maybe all three!
