Barry Sonnenfeld Saves The World

Barry Sonnenfeld is no stranger to saving the world, after two Men in Black films and, er, Wild Wild West. But now he's being called upon to save us all again, with the news that he's set to return to the big screen with The How-To Guide For Saving The World.

The story centres on - as you'd expect from the title - an instruction manual for protecting the world from alien invasion left behind by a now-defunct secret group. It is discovered by what Sonnenfeld describes as "a non-action-hero guy, not unlike me in terms of manliness" and a woman who hates him, who have to work together to save the planet.

The script's by newcomer BenDavid Grabinski, and it'll be Sonnenfeld's first feature directing gig since 2006's RV, but let's draw a veil over that and focus on the fact that he used to make films like The Addams Family and Get Shorty, as well as producing recent hits like Enchanted and TV's awesome but sadly cancelled Pushing Daisies. Fingers crossed he's back on form for this effort, because the title at least is promising.
