Bad Teacher, the latest comedy from Walk Hard: A Dewey Cox Story director Jake Kasdan, is out this summer. Courtesy of Sony, here's a fresh glimpse of the principles - Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel - stalking the corridors of the movie's high-school setting.
Diaz plays Elizabeth, the sweary-mouthed teach of the title. She's basically going through the motions, waiting for a way out to a life free from homework marking, detention supervision and endless lumpy custard. Cue Timberlake, scion of a watch dynasty and sufficiently minted to meet her criteria, who she latches onto when her fiancé dumps her. Cue Segel - a sarky, irreverent gym teacher who takes a shine to her - and much stoned, boozy mayhem.
We know that Diaz and Segel can bring the funny, but Bad Teacher should give Justin Timberlake a chance to prove he's got the comic talent to go with the serious acting chops he showed as The Social Network's charismatic, slippery Sean Parker. And no, we're not counting The Love Guru as a comedy. A script by the writers of NBC's The Office, Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, will definitely help.
