The good news about the Avengers sequel just keeps on flooding in. We know it’s happening. We know Joss Whedon will return to both write and direct it as part of his massive overall deal with Marvel. But today comes the exciting bit: it has a set release date of May 1, 2015.
Sure, there are no solid details about who besides the main team (and, if they know what’s good for them, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki) will return or what new story elements will feature, but this is at least something. We are only a couple of years away from more Avengers goodness.
It remains to be seen whether those in the UK will get it a week early again and if it’ll be called something along the lines of **The Avengers Are Pleased To Gather Once More **over here, but what’s important is that it’s coming at all. Have a gander at our feature on what we think the sequel needs to include.
Meanwhile, in related Marvel news, the first possible plot info for the other big superhero team film, Guardians Of The Galaxy, has emerged online. Apparently, it’ll focus on “a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants.” For full details on the heroes involved, check out our story written when the movie was first announced. And bear in mind that the plot could well change between now and the release date, especially given that writer Chris McCoy was recently hired to work on the script.
Guardians Of The Galaxy should be arriving in August 2014.
