Hollywood and, more specifically, Oscar voters, love a musician with mental problems. Shine, Hilary and Jackie – really anything with a violin or piano and the odd depressive episode. So, Ashley Judd, start dusting off your big frock now.
Judd, who's appearance on screen has become very seldom since her days as Next Big Thing in the late '90s, will play the lead role in Helen. Written and directed by Sandra Nettelbeck, it's the story of a music professor who suffers from a debilitating case of the mean reds (yay!). Her family tries to drag her from the pits of despair, but nobody can help her, but a female student who understands depression all to well.
Bring the whole family!
