Okay, so Armie Hammer might not be attached to as many projects as, say Jeremy Renner. But he seems to be finding plenty of work in this post-Social Network era. that isn’t stopping him from jumping aboard yet another film, with Lightstream Pictures announcing that he’s now attached to star in the psychological thriller 2:22.

Written by Todd Stein and Moon scribe Nathan Parker, 2:22 will find Hammer as Dylan, an air traffic controller who suffers a nasty scare when he’s nearly responsible for a collision between two planes. The cause? A blinding flash of light that occurs at the titular time, which Dylan starts to investigate. And because it’s a thriller, the cause isn’t just a malfunctioning searchlight – it’s linked to a double murder that occurred more than 25 years ago. As Dylan digs deeper, he meets a woman called Sarah who is also somehow linked to the light and soon they have to solve the mystery behind it.

It’s definitely timely given the recent scandals about exhausted air traffic controllers falling asleep on the job.

Lightstream co-founder Paul Currie is picking up the megaphone for this one, which will be sold at the Cannes Film Festival Market before it starts shooting in Australia later in the year. Hammer’s just finished work on Clint Eastwood’s J Edgar, is locked in to play Prince Alcott in Snow White and has most recently been linked to the title role in The Lone Ranger.
